Why I am "All-In" for Physicians
I am a physician. Just like you.
From my own personal growth experience, I know three things:
One. Every human should have access to whatever they need to be successful.
Two. Medical education and training provide the tools necessary to create good clinicians but fall short on teaching clinicians how to grow into the best versions of themselves.
Three. If the system of medicine is going to get better for our patients and for us, all physicians must have access to what they need to feel successful as leaders, clinicians, educators, and scientists.
I created The White Coat Project because I know it is absolutely critical for physicians to have the skills necessary to lead transformation within healthcare. It is critical to have women and physicians of color in meaningful leadership roles to help find solutions for our most pressing healthcare needs. I also know these things cannot happen if physicians are not capable of fully engaging in the complex environments around them or if they leave medicine all together.
We put so much into our profession. We should be getting something back. Since so many of you are leaving medicine, I know "that something" is not a paycheck. What is it? What are you longing for? What do you want from medicine? What do you want for yourself?
